Samsung Omnia unveiled

Samsung Omnia unveiled

June 17, 2016

The Samsung Omnia SGH-i900 was unveiled at a press conference in Singapore yesterday.

Expected to pose strong competition for Apple’s iPhone, the Omnia incorporates all of the iPhone’s key features and much more.

As well as GPS navigation, up to 16GB memory, and touchscreen input, the Omnia includes 7.2 Mbps HSDPA internet access, a 5 megapixel camera with automatic image stabilisation, memory expansion of up to an extra 16GB, and video codec recognition.

It runs Windows Mobile 6.1, and features the Samsung TouchWiz user interface.

Given the Omnia’s stunning set of features, Apple can only hope that it falls short on battery life or on ease of use. Apple’s iPhone is renowned for its extended battery life compared to competitors, and for an intuitive interface.

The Samsung Omnia SGH-i900 will be available in Europe from July.

Expected retail price is US$722 (£360).
